My Favorite Film Openings:

 Film Making: 

There are plenty of films that have such amazing film openings that they leave you wanting more. they are exactly how an opening should be, persuasive, understandable, and suspenseful!

However, there are only 3 film openings that I have driven towards upon researching and looking back at my watch history...

 NO.3: MEG 2

The opening scene of Meg 2: 

The Trench takes place on an island near the ocean. We see prehistoric creatures hunting and battling each other. Nature's food cycle is shown as a helicopter is attacked by a lizard which then is further attacked by other reptiles. As the reptiles enjoy their food the T. rex also stalks its prey, soon attacking them and is led straight into the water. Huge sea creatures, like the Megalodon, swim nearby. Suddenly, a fierce struggle begins as these ancient animals attack each other. The tension builds as the predators fight to survive. This action packed scene sets up Nature's philosophy of the food cycle and sets the fear of the dangerous deep sea, showing the power and fierceness of creatures that lived millions of years ago.

no.2: Damsel

In the opening scene of Damsel:

The kingdom is under threat from a fearsome dragon terrorizing the land. The king is desperate to protect his people so he gathers a group of elite warriors to confront the beast. Over-the-head shots and closeups of the king are seen during the battle exposing how the king falls weak. The fighters put on their armor and complete their strategies. The king, determined and proud orders to attack, but the dragon proves to be a far greater threat than anticipated. The soldiers burn to ashes as the beast ignites their souls. The stubborn king orders the rest to attack but one after another all soldiers are killed. This tense moment sets the stage for the king’s desperate fight against the beast but he unfortunately loses. He surrenders to the dragon that we only get to see in the last low-angle shot establishing the mighty creature.

NO.1: Avengers: Infinity Wars

The opening scene of Avengers: Infinity War...

 begins with chaos in space. A tracking ground shot shows the scenes of death and torture. We get to see a very very wide shot of the ship carrying Thor, Loki, and the Asgardian survivors attacked by Thanos and his Black Order. multiple long shots and closeups are observed. Thanos, seeking the Space Stone, demands its surrender. After a brief confrontation, Thanos overpowers Thor and kills Loki, engaging the audience all at once as an Avenger dies right 5 minutes into the movie. Thanos taking the Tesseract (that has the Space Stone) is attacked by Hulk who tries to fight but is defeated by Thanos, leaving Doctor Strange’s ally Heimdall, to send Hulk to Earth before his death. The scene sets a dark tone, showcasing Thanos's immense power and foreshadowing the devastating conflict to come. This leaves the audience curious and wanting more!
