Semiotics: The study of signs!

Image
Let's Discuss Sign Terminology: SIGNS?   What does this term even mean? Signs are basically various images and symbols that always represent something. Almost anything can be a sign doesn't even matter what that is, a teddy bear could represent childhood, and an empty bowl could represent empty emotions and neglect. Semiotics is also a concept based on signs and their usage. Roland Barthes proposed his theory, saying that signs are more than just symbols, and their meanings can be easily inferred.  Barthes believed that signs are subject to cultural and ideological influences.    Ferdinand de Saussure's linguistic theory also supports Barthes's idea by saying that language is a structured system of signs and can convey ideas.  We can easily deduce that signs have meanings,  now if each and every sign has a meaning how do we know and distinguish between them? Saussure explained that to us as well by introducing his semiotics theory that enlightened us...

HISTORY OF FILMS: The history of films has evolved over the centuries in various ways. From technological advances to many discoveries made by filmmakers, we have seen the huge success that this industry has achieved in technology, art, and culture. Devices like the zoetrope led to the invention of the first motion-picture camera, noticed by the Lumière brothers in 1895. At the same time, cinemas also came to life when the camera's cinematography allowed films to be projected to the public. Georges Méliès then came and introduced his imaginative storytelling and many special effects, he became famous for using them in A Trip to the Moon (1902). Then in the early 20th century, people got to witness silent cinema. Many filmmakers like D.W. Griffith changed the narrative storytelling with films like The Birth of a Nation (1915). There were comedic icons like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton who became the stars for their talent in acting. The 1920s also saw the rise ...

Film Making:  There are plenty of films that have such amazing film openings that they leave you wanting more. they are exactly how an opening should be, persuasive, understandable, and suspenseful! However, there are only 3 film openings that I have driven towards upon researching and looking back at my watch history...   NO.3: MEG 2 The opening scene of Meg 2:  The Trench  takes place on an island near the ocean.  We see prehistoric creatures hunting and battling each other. Nature's food cycle is shown as a helicopter is attacked by a lizard which then is further attacked by other reptiles. As the reptiles enjoy their food the T. rex also stalks its prey, soon attacking them and is led straight into the water. Huge sea creatures, like the Megalodon, swim nearby. Suddenly, a fierce struggle begins as these ancient animals attack each other. The tension builds as the predators fight to survive. This action packed scene sets up Nature's philosophy of the f...
