Some of the great Editors:

Image
BEST EDITORS>> 1. Lee Smith:  Lee Smith is a highly skilled editor known for his precise, rightly measured cuts that speed up a film’s pacing without losing emotional depth. With years of experience, Smith has worked on films like The Dark Knight and Dunkirk. His talent lies in creating seamless transitions between tense action scenes and quieter, emotional moments. He is great at shaping the rhythm of a story and guiding the audience's emotional journey. His ability to enhance character development through perfect timing and little visual cues has made him one of the most respected yet often overlooked editors. 2. Thelma Schoonmaker:  Thelma Schoonmaker is a long-time collaborator with Martin Scorsese. She is an expert at transforming raw footage into beautiful, cohesive narratives. Thelma’s editing style touched my heart as it has her sharp instincts for the right amount of pacing and her ability to create suspense and tension. which I would love to lea...

Director#2~A Favorite!

Image
STEVEN SPIELBERG a PERSONAL FAVORITE Steven Spielberg is one of the most prominent and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema! with a career span of over five decades, his works have structured modern filmmaking and left an incredible impact on the Hollywood film industry and the global pop culture. Known for his adaptable selection of genres, Spielberg has produced and directed some of the most successful, creative, and beloved films ever. His films have not only entertained audiences but have also challenged the boundaries of storytelling, technology, and emotions! and that's exactly what makes Spielberg one of my favorite directors. Spielberg had his interest in film since an early age. As a teenager, he began making short films with a home movie camera. His love for film led him to attend California State University though he left before completing his degree to pursue a career in filmmaking! Looking at it being a seventeen year old myself its quite inspiring and motiv...

Editing's Game!

Image
Elements of editing : Several elements of editing help us achieve the desired outcome in a video and film production. Let's explore a few of these: Visual Editing vs. Invisible Editing:  Visual editing refers to the effects and transitions that are noticeable to the audience, while invisible editing encompasses cuts that seamlessly join scenes without drawing attention to themselves.  This type of editing is commonly known as continuous editing and can be related to visual parallelism, which represents what the viewers are seeing. Non-Continuous Editing: This process involves multiple cuts that make the editing more apparent to the audience. Shot/Reverse Shot: This technique is used in dialogues to indicate which character is speaking, capturing shots of both characters as they communicate. Graphic Match: A graphic match involves matching visual shapes or objects. For example, showing a sunset and then transitioning to a clock can create a visual connection. Movement Gra...

Studying about Cinematic Lightning!

Image
💡 Cinematic Lightning! 💡 There are a total of 7 initial steps to achieve cinematic lighting... 1) Shooting shadow side: This means the shadows should be on the subject's face while you shoot! and the camera should be positioned in a way that is opposite to light. 2) Lighting Direction: Up above direction = depressed/shadowy mood or tone. Low angle: shadows will reverse / villainy look If the light is shone at a 45° angle , it creates a triangle for a perfect shadow, giving the shot a natural look. The person should be Shot from the shorter side. shooting from the shorter side: This is similar to the "Rembrandant" lighting technique which also uses the contrast of shadows and light to achieve cinematography! 3) Depth : This basically means separating the subject from the background(Using colors). Orange-teel gradient gives a blockbuster look. These are 2 complementary colors If a darker background is used than the subject, it gives attention to the subject adding to t...

LOCATION CHECK ?

Image
MUNGI WALI VILLAGE "the mansion" So me and my team decided to pay a visit to one of my friend's mansion in the village.  this mansion was built in between the late 90s and early 2000s. this beautiful piece of art was located in between various fields and mud houses. besides it was an open-aired building and had accents of raja-style Indian influence~ Its unique style blends elements of rustic charm with opulent vintage flair making it a remarkable structure in the midst of a quiet countryside.  This village mansion’s allure is undeniable. Its worn-out antique beauty creates a sense of nostalgia and romance. The mansion is  built from weathered stone lending it a wild, organic beauty.              its admirable architecture and old style techniques of building and interior give it the perfect demure look we needed!  Its walls, though worn and chipped, exude a sense of history with every crack and uneven surface. The mansion’s charm l...

Meeting #2

If Everyone makes horror films then how is Seytan any different? Well dear reader.. Seytan is not just an horror film, its a whole depiction towards a theme merely some people touch.  It shows the side of horror that is not only true but a whole big topic to talk about.   " Black Magic" , Incantation..   Its a very serious problem that boys, women, men and especially young girls go through in various areas or villages of Pakistan. However it has been neglected and shut when anyone talks about it due to the superstitious beliefs. We have portrayed the strength and cruelty of black magic by displaying the aura of demonic power. We will be showing 5 women that put a curse on this young innocent girl that helplessly tries to escape it. That exactly will be our climax for the story and include the main character~ the young girl. Our location after consideration is going to be a mansion in between a village. This will give our story that sense of reality. The lead char...

Marvel productions: Hollywood's Game Changer!

Image
MARVEL STUDIOS! Today's the day to talk about Hollywood's epic biggest hit! The one production company that releases something more inspiring, thrilling, and visually awesome each year and personally my latest obsession... Marvel Studios' production has transformed modern filmmaking. They've merged interconnected narratives, added blockbuster special effects, and all star casts into a scenario that has ruled the global cinema view for more than a decade. Behind Marvel’s success is its carefully schemed production process, its ability and creativity to compare shared universes, and its commitment to keeping millions of fans interested through a vast network of films and TV shows. The company was founded as Marvel Films in 1993 and renamed Marvel Studios in 1996. Initially, the company couldn’t translate its comic-book legacy to film, losing the film rights to a range of characters, including Spider-Man and X-Men. The major turning point was in 2008, with Iron Man. Marv...

-şeytan- Scene 1 (Act 1) Opening Shot:   The camera glides over a grand mansion against a twilight sky, with the soft hum of the surrounding village in the distance.  Neha enters, her silhouette illuminated by a flickering lantern. She performs Wudu with calm precision, the Azaan echoing softly in the background. After completing her ritual, she offers a heartfelt prayer, her voice intertwining with the gentle rustling of the wind outside. Sitting cross-legged on a prayer mat, she places the lantern beside her, Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind sweeps through the room, chilling the air and extinguishing the lantern, plunging Neha into darkness. --- Scene 2 (Act 2) Neha rises and walks towards a corner, the darkness enveloping her. She reaches for the matchstick to reignite the lantern's flame. as she's about to put the flame, she is captivated by a light coming from the basement window. following the light she peeks out the window unable to see anything. Selecting A Genre: Film planning

Image
HORROR? MYSTERY? OR THRILLER? Choosing a genre is not an easy task especially when this has to be the base for everything we'll be working on. Eventually it came to me and my team members that why don't we create something that's a mixture of all these various genres. The only question as HOW? We held a meeting and decided that let's stick with the category of Horror but add the accents of thrill and mystery! So here we are with the introduction of "Seytan" our very own horror short film we intend to film, create and edit! Inspired by the famous horror depiction "Dabbe" of the  talented director  " Hasan Karacadag" we decided to create something as affecting , realistic and interesting. We have watched various clips from The Nun , Conjuring, Sijjin  ,  and others to influence our minds to think with a sense of creativity. We are working on the storyline, setting, characters, and roles that we'll need. Hopefully, the next post will be...

FIRST MEETING

Image
The Planning Starts!   Today, we officially met to decide the storyline for our film opening.  Everything went smoothly, and we decided to create something closely inspired by Turkish folklore.  We are still confused about the genre but mystery and horror both seem closely related to our theme. We are making amendments and brainstorming ideas, but the basic framework is in place.  Now, we just need to finalize the genre, roles and props.  After that, we can begin working on the script.  We will provide more updates after our second meeting, so stay tuned!

Director#1~An inspiration.

Hasan karacadağ Hasan Karacadag is a renowned Turkish director, a popular screenwriter and a producer as well. He is widely recognized for his innovative contributions to the Turkish horror film genre. His works have captivated audiences both in Turkey and internationally and we were one of the million attracted with his 2006 film Dabbe being a defining moment in his career.  Dabbe stands out as a bold exploration of the many supernatural genres. It blends traditional horror elements with modern technology and cultural references from Turkish culture. The film's chilling narrative, which revolves around the terrifying concept of possession and the unearthly forces at play in contemporary society has made a significant impact on the genre not just in Turkey but globally.  What makes Karacadag’s approach unique? It is his ability to fuse the terrifying atmosphere of horror with deep cultural themes, often adding elements of religion, superstition, and the supernatural, which a...
